What are the latest guides to standards and tolerances?

It won’t come as much of a surprise to discover that most domestic building disputes are as a result of disagreements around the standard and quality of building work. We don’t want you to be on the receiving end of these arguments!

Although the minimum necessary standards for the major, critical aspects of construction are regulated, many other aspects are not – which is when disputes and disagreements about the quality of work happen.

That’s where this guide comes in:
The Western Australia Guide to Standards and Tolerances 2019 lists out the minimum technical standards and quality of work.
The guide provides references to relevant areas of legislation and gives guidance on areas of building standards that are not covered by legislation.

Basically, building work that does not meet these minimum standards could be considered faulty or unsatisfactory.
Bear in mind that this document is intended as a guide only; all other documents stating statutory and contractual requirements overall this guide.

The most recent “Guide to Standards and Tolerances” for Western Australia is the 2019 edition, which was last updated on November 29, 2024.

You can access the guide through the Western Australian Government’s official website:
